Are you using the strict pragma? If not then add this line of code to your script.

This is not correct.

if(exists $KeyMap{'$node1}')



Should be:

if(exists $KeyMap{$node1})


Also, this line looks wrong (which is done in more than one spot):

$KeyMap('$node2' => '$i') ;


I believe that it should be more like this:

$KeyMap{$node2} = $i;
