Win32::GUI Underlining Menu Shortcuts

The normal way to do this is to precede the shortcut character with an &, but this does not seem to work with Win32::GUI.

Does anyone know an alternative way to make this happen?

Code
# set up the standard menu bar dropdowns: ie File Next Options View Help ...
my $DataMenu = new Win32::GUI::Menu(
# pulldown heading, note the "&" ampersand, in this context it is used
# to indicate which letter gets the shortcut letter underlined

"&File" => "File", # menu bar item
" > Open &Headcount" => "Headcount", # pulldown subheading
" > -" => 0, # pulldown subheading separator
" > E&xit" => "FileExit", # pulldown subheading
"&Next" => "AnotherMenuHeading", # menu bar item
" > -" => 0,
);
