I am aware that Perl Archive lists such scripts. But whilst the site may allow users to rate the scripts. I see no obvious ways of viewing script ratings for individual programs which surely defeats the purpose of haivng such a feature. The CGI Resource Index offers this feature ...

Yes, we've struggled with the ratings feature, trying to figure out how to make it fair, accurate, and meaningful. I don't trust ratings systems in general because I suspect they're more often a measure of how many friends and IP numbers the programmer has than a valid reflection of the quality of the program.

The lack of a rating doesn't necessarily mean that a program is not good; nor does a high rating guarantee that a program is good. When we publish script ratings, we're stricter than most sites in an effort to make the ratings meaningful.

We offer a forum devoted to discussion of listed programs. It's sadly not used much, but if it were more active, I'd find that a lot more useful than a ratings system.

... so surely offering that link was fine!

We're not crazy about seeing links to our competition here -- ABC doesn't advertise on CBS, you know -- but if it wasn't fine, I would have deleted it. Would have made more sense to me to post an active hyperlink to the script along with some details of the program, but you can do it however you want.

Surely the fact that I have two urls in my signature. Is that against the rules?

Of course not ... I was kiddin' ya ... sheesh. I think people do find it more useful if they can actually click on the hyperlink, rather than cutting and pasting it, but again, it's certainly not a requirement.
