mailing list

Hi,

I am using BNB'S NOMODOMO SUBSCRIPTION E-MAIL SYSTEM

the code in my html page is thus
<FORM ACTION="/cgi-bin/subscribe.cgi" METHOD="POST">
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> <font size="2">
<INPUT TYPE="RADIO" NAME="action" VALUE="subscribe" checked>
Subscribe<BR>
<INPUT TYPE="RADIO" NAME="action" VALUE="unsubscribe">
Un-Subscribe<BR>
</font></font>
<CENTER>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">
<INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="email" VALUE="your-email" SIZE=20 MAXLENGTH=100>
<BR>
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="mailing" VALUE="subscribe">
<INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="DO IT!">
<BR>
Sign up today to receive our low volume newsletter. Tips, tricks, news,
and whatever else crosses our minds. <BR>
<A HREF="/privacy.html">Privacy Statement</A> </font>
</CENTER>

</FORM>

Question one - what exactly does this line do?

<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="mailing" VALUE="subscribe">

if I want to collect unsubcribes what do I do?

NAME="mailing" is the name of the file which collects the listo f people, do I need to create one of these and place it on the server

Re: mailing list

Do you have the code to "/cgi-bin/subscribe.cgi"? It would help to make things clearer. I can't really say what the parameters do or mean without seeing how they are processed. But my guess would be that the the hidden field is to tell the script what form the user is using and what actions to take for the data. But that's just a guess!
