Where do you hide sensitive data on server

Hi again and thank you for your continued support.

I am writing a perl cgi to send info to people who subscibe for it on my website.

Their email addresses will be stored for future use but I am very concerned about robots designed to collect email addresses for marketing purposes.

Where do I store the email addresses on the server(I don't think that it is practical to put them into the mailer script)?

Regards,

Willie

Re: Where do you hide sensitive data on server

Hi
Simply install the mailing list above your public accessible directory and point you mailing script to the path where the list is located. If you don't have a directory above public access you could just rename you mailing list with the .cgi or .pl extension and when the some one attempt to access the mailing list they will get a 500 internal server error.
