Help with perl image creating

I want to know how to make images with perl (like the graphical counters). What I will use it for is "house" creation, where I will make a javascript thing that will allow people to create their own "house" using a grid system and tiles, then convert the grid (which would be lots of tiny pics) to ONE picture (kinda like if you took a desktop screenshot and cropped it). Is this possible, and if so, how would I go about doing it?

Re: [King_of_Dragons] Help with perl image creating

Why would you want to use Perl for this task? It could be done simply using a JavaScript or an Applet. This way, it would be executed on the client machine and not take up the time of the server so that it could handle other requests. Kind of an issue of choosing the right tool for the job.

Just a thought,

print unpack"u*",pack "h*",$a,"\n\n";

I'm talking about the perl CREATING another image, not just putting 70 images in a grid. This way it doesn't take a long time to load.

It's possible, but it's going to take some study and reseach for you to do it. I'd recommend buying Graphics Programming with Perl, or you may get lucky and it'll be at your local library.

There's two sample chapters of this book (in pdf format) on Perl Horizons: [url=http://perlhorizons.com/article.pl?sid=02/09/17/1558232]Chapter 1 - Overview of Graphics and [url=http://perlhorizons.com/article.pl?sid=02/10/08/2049226]Chapter 4 - Drawing
