Creating GUI app that I can use to launch multiple apps (with params)

I am a support consultant for GEHealthcare and am trying to write a perl script that:

Launches a GUI window, asks me a question and I in turn exec another program with params taken from the question.

Hope this is enough info. I cannot imagine that this is all that difficult in perl/tk

Re: [rootvgusr] Creating GUI app that I can use to launch multiple apps (with params)

So I got the Tk window all set. My two new questions are:

how do I prevent the dos like perl window from coming up when I run my scrip from Start->Run.

how do I pass parameters to the windows program? I can get it to run but need to pass the param "/winsock=$VAR" thru exec.

PLEASE HELP! Coming from a UNIX/Linux background this makes no sense to me!

Nobody here ever answers Tk related questions. I have no experience with Tk myself. I suggest you ask on the perl forum at www.tek-tips.com or try www.perlmonks.com
