encrypting modules

ok all you smart moderators and other gurus, I have a questions about encryption modules. I need to encrypt a session id and a user name on my server and then store that off in the cookie. As well the information is stored in a mysql table. I need some suggestions as to which module I should use for the encrypting and why. Right now I am torn between RC4 and Blowfish. I have heard that Blowfish is heads and tails above DES, and so that is why I am not considering it at the moment. Any help is surely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: encrypting modules

RC4 was cracked a few years ago. No one has come close to developing an attack that breaks Blowfish (according to my research, if I am wrong please point this out).
So with that said, I think I'll use Blowfish. It looks a little sturdier. Thanks all,
