What is considered Perl Application Development over a distributed system?

Hello, Perl Masters,

I have a simply sounding question which leaves me absolutely stumped. The question is:

"What is considered Perl Application Development over a distributed system?"

Hmm, I am pretty good a Perl, but when I thing of Perl over a distributed system, my mind go to mod_perl, or more so a perl framework Catalyst (Agile, MVC web framework at pushes RAD). Also, I am going to sleek in a second question, if python is to Ansible, and Ruby is to Puppet and Chef, then Perl is to . . . Rex or????

What answer were you considering for this homework assignment question?

Depending on the context you want to apply, I'd say Git would be a reasonable answer.

No, it isn't a homework question. It was a question that an IT recruiter has asked about my background in Perl. I can write just about anything in Perl, but I didn't understand the application in which the question was asked. Do you think they meant web application using Perl? That's why I thought about the Catalyst Framework, or mod_perl. Of course they may have been thinking network port programming like getprotoent functions.

In that case I would have asked them to clarify their question so that you would be able to answer it within that context.

Given their wording they could have been referring to almost any type of perl app. Or, they could have not been referring to any specific type of app, but instead see what your response would be which might help them to determine your primary perl experience and strength.

Yeah, I see your point. Could be wild card question. I am going to post the second question in a new thread. Thanks.
