Perl v5.16.0 required--this is only v5.10.1

Hi,

Below is OS details and requirements:

OS : OEL 6.5 x86-64
Current Perl: v5.10.1
Required Perl: v5.16

I am trying to upgrade OTRS 6.0.5 from 5.0.9, for this later version need latest perl version. Can someone please guide me how can I upgrade perl version to 5.16 without disturbing existing instance.

I tried to download later version perl, but couldn't find perl 5.16 for OEL 6.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Avinash Illindra

Re: [avinashillindra] Perl v5.16.0 required--this is only v5.10.1

Can you explain why exactly you consider that Perl 5.16 is required?

Depending on the answer, you'll have to try to upgrade system Perl or to install you own local version of Perl and avoid disturbing system Perl.

Also, depending on the answer, you might consider a version of Perl more recent than 5.16.

As I mentioned in the first thread, im in the process of upgrading OTRS 6.0 5 , for this particular version database required perl 5.16 minimum version. It is local perl.

You may want to look into using Perlbrew. https://perlbrew.pl/

Perlbrew makes it very easy to install any version of perl without interfering with the system perl. You can also easily install multiple versions and switch between them as needed.

Another (competing) option would be plenv.

I have not used plenv so I can't say which one is better, but they are both good choices.
