automatically run scripts w/out cron?

Is there a way to automatically run a script every few minutes without using cron?

The script is tiny so I don't see it causing overload on the server...

Re: automatically run scripts w/out cron?

The simplest way is to use cron, otherwise your going to get into some advanced features of perl use sleep delay. This would also create a program that ran constantly and "slept" for designated periods of time between active operation.

Also most hosting providers watch for ongoing processes and halt them (usually to stop traffic mongers like irc bots or hack programs)
