Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

What are the criteria by which these are set?

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

It goes by how many posts you have. For example i was just promoted to newbie for posting 25 times. Some things like moderator and administrator can only be acheived by them making you that and not by posting 1,000,000,000 times. :) Hope that explains it.

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

Well, any word suggestions?

And note that the use of "newbie" isn't intended to imply a person's programming level. Rather, new users to our forums are "newbies", which of course they are until they post a few times.

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

I think if you replaced newbie with Apprentice it would be pretty neat. Also it would stick with the guild theme ( apprentice, journeyman, master or member in forum terms ).

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

From this point forward, "newbies" will be known as "apprentices".

It doesn't go back to previous posts and change them, but it'll show apprentice from this point forward.

Thanks for the input!

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

Sorry Jasmine

I have do something stupid by editing my post.
The name "apprentices" is nice.
I understand that the word newbie is normal for an forum, but i don't like the word newbie.

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

Hello Jasmine,

this is strange, when i post my title didnt changed from "newbie" to "apprentice", does the modification only affect new users?

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

I'm guessing that the logic of WWWThreads' user titles says "find the current title and then see if it's supposed to change". But because because "newbie" was completely deleted, there's nothing to look for.

So I've added newbie back for posts 0-1, and it should change to stranger for posts 2-25.

Thanks for pointing this out -- hopefully this fix will work.

Re: Titles: Newbie, Stranger, Journeyman

HI Jasmine,
this may be entirely out of context but to you think its better that the "jump to" select-box be moved to (or duplicated at) the top of the page right below the top menu bar (main index | Search | edit profile.....).
now, User needs to scroll all the way down if threads are long.
and clicking on the main index is an additional step to any forum.
