Just wondering... Can't Post

Ever since InsideTheWeb went belly up, my friends and I have bemoaned the loss of an RP board to match the functionality ITW had. My question is this, how much would a BB script like that cost? Something where the first post of a thread was viewable soon as the page loaded (guestbook style), but the replies were collapsed? If it's possible to etch out enough to buy, I'd like to help them out, but I'm afraid of the price range. Still I'd like to know so I can tell them. All help appreciated, thanks.

Although i have never seen the InsideTheWeb's bb script, the wwwthreads is also a great script. This forum uses it too. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Forums powered by WWWThreads v5.1.4perl . That will take you to the area where you can download this script. It is really cool and has tons of features. I am pretty sure it is free too.

Sorry, but wwwthreads isn't free -- for personal use it's $100, and it's $200 for commercial use.

They have a slimmed down demo version available for download. "Although it is somewhat limited it still provides a majority of the features so you can evaluate before purchasing WWWThreads Pro".

You can check out DMforum at...
I wrote this script quite a while ago, and you can download it for free from my site. People say they like it a lot, but it gets a bit messy to configure/install. But that's why it's free :) I want to do a full version by the end of the year, which will cost, but will have loads of features, and the choice to view in collapsed or linear mode.
It shows the first message with a message tree diagram for the replies. The diagram has links to the replies, and it's so easy to see who is talking to who. It took me ages to design that diagram. I wanted it to be like the old deja system, and I reckon it turned out to be a little tidier than that. The code is quite complex, maybe overly so, but it never misses a beat.
Another important feature is that it does not store messages more than once. It uses a line numbering system which also took me ages to design, but saves heaps of disk space.
Anyway, go get it for free and all the best.

Have you try IKON Board at:

It's a great board and free off cost.

I had an IkonBoard that got hacked -- way too easily, in my opinion. Someone suggested that the security issue had been patched, but still ...

It is a nice board though. You could probably protect yourself by changing the permissions on the admin script when you're not using it.
