Printing Web Pages Can't Post

There used to be a program in Perl called PrintIt that strips out everthing but text on a page and makes the text all black in order to have a printable page. The site has disappeared, and the only other script I can find is not as good and costs. Does anyone know of a smallish script that can do this? It's important. Email me at if you know where I can get a copy of PrintIt or something similar.

It may be easier to abuse the limitationa of a text-only browser such as w3m or lynx (both of which can be run as browser -dump to get text only output).

Alternately, if you'd prefer to stick with Perl, then take a look at the LWP and the HTML::Parser suite of modules.

The former even comes with a demo script that does what you're looking for (lwp-request -o text
