I need to create a " password file" the password file records are made up of the fields day / month / year / and time in hrs / mins / and secs. I already have a program in perl to see when a user last logged onto the system, so I only need to know how to set up a password file. thanks very much for all your help, good luck, conor.

And maybe this will clear it up for others. Do you mean more of a password protected file that would store the information so that only you, or someone else with the password can get in. Or are you trying to set up more of a login system "users" where this password file will be opened and read to see if the person belongs there? It is entirely possible that your post is more obvious than how I took it...but try to explain a little more about what you need and I just may be able to help you. good luck #!/usr/dusnt/know/perl use CGI; $a = new pointless CGI();
