game/data collection Can't Post

I am involved with a website that follows the tv show Survivor. Last season a website ran an online game called Fantasy Outback.

http://www.survivorsucks.com/fantasy/index.htm
http://www.survivorsucks.com/fantasy/thisweek.htm
http://www.survivorsucks.com/fantasy/cumulative.htm
http://www.survivorsucks.com/fantasy/signup.htm

In this game a player would choose 4 cast members to be on their 'team'. Based on their performance, the cast members would be given points each week. If you had those cast members on your team you were awarded points. Also, you had five questions, each with different point values you would answer, such as who won immunity, reward, etc.

I am looking for a program I can use to run the game on a smaller scale (over 35,000 players on last season's site). I am very new to perl, but have been told it is what I need to run something such as this.

I would appreciate any input the experts out there have. I have done search after search and come up with nothing.

Thanks!
