Reading files from client drive Can't Post

Is it possible to have Perl read the contents of a specific directory on a client's machine? I have been asked to write a script for our company Intranet that will allow users to check how much vacation time they have left for the year, and only their's. The problem I'm
having is that they want the login to be automatic so that it grabs a userID file written when they logon to our Netware server from a specific folder on their hard drive. Is this possible to do and if so, how do I access the client's drive.

Thanks,
Chris
