Forum Post search engine script

I would like to make/use a search engine that can look in the post-files of my forum
I can simply read in my format, (and pass one post string to the engine at the time)
but
a. How do I reconize the text-match fast?
b. How can I display the result in several pages (25 posts per page)
Without using too much CPU (or re-use it when the user requests the second page)
Yet an Other Perl Programmer
