Aboo New User Feb 27, 2002, 8:26 PM Post #1 of 4 (414 views) Crashing server! Can't Post Hi All, I tweaked NOMODOMO from bignosebird.com in order to take a dozen variables from users. Works great on my Linux server. I just set up the script on a client's Windows server, and it crashes every time that it writes to the database. It seems to take down the whole server for 2-3 minutes every time that I run it. (So I am not running it anymore.) The server is running Win 2000 It crashes AFTER it writes to the database It can read the database without crashing Has anybody ever seen this problem before??? {One of two scripts attached} Thanks - Derek (This post was edited by Aboo on Feb 27, 2002, 8:32 PM) Attachments: admin.cgi (21.0 KB)

[In reply to] Can't Post Derek, well without looking at anything, i would venture to guess that maybe the script wasnt built for windows, and that it is probably a file locking problem, or something that windows does not support, but that unix does. probably 90% of the scripts out there are NOT windows compatable I Hope this helps... perl programmers don't die.. they just start writing a new script.

I had no idea that windows didn't support them. Can I just take them out? Do files need to be locked on a Windows system? Thanks a million! Derek

[In reply to] Can't Post Aboo, yes you can take them out (but be sure to romove the call to them at the top). but that may not assure your script to work, as there may be other discriminations between windows and the script. i am not that up on windows requirements as i just dont bother writing scripts for them. but no, windows does not require file locking, because it does its own file locking built in.
