.tpl files and cgi::fasttempplate Can't Post

forgive my ignorance,

i'm trying to save html in a file to use as a template. i'm on an nt machine and everytime i try to save a file with the .tpl extension, it tacks on an extra extension, like .doc or .txt depending on the application i'm using to code the html.

so i save test.tpl and it saves as test.tpl.txt

how do i save a .tpl file to be accessed by a perl script using cgi::fasttemplate?

thanks!

I'm not certain about NT, but have you tried a simple renaming of the file after it's been created?

I know for a fact that when Win Notepad, Wordpad, etc. doesn't recognize an extension of a document created in those programs, it tacks on a .txt extension. This stops after you create a valid file association. In the interim, you can rename the file to whatever.tpl in your Windows Explorer or NT equivalent.

Hope this helps...
