backing up entire folder Can't Post

Hi,

I have about 1500 10k files in a directory. I want to do a backup to the entire folder. When I do the backup, I want it to copy everything inside the directory, and copy it to a new folder name using the current date.

How can this be done.

Thanks

Re: [JFrost] backing up entire folder [In reply to] Can't Post

open TAR, "|/bin/tar -cf file.tar /path/to/directory/*" or die $!;
close TAR;

?

To copy just up File::Copy

Thank for the reply.

I'm sorry if I seem a bit simple minded, but can you please show me a working example that I can use to do what I need.

Thanks
