installing Can't Post

I havent installed mod_perl on my comp yet but in many of the forums i go to installing it seems to be a major problem and i thought it would be appropriate for this question to be asked in a still new board(also might be good to add to FAQ).

Soo.. how do you add mod_perl to apache?

:) thanks

mod_perl itself can be installed through ppm/cpan, if you can find which mirror has the files. After that, you just need to add a few lines to httpd.conf to have Apache load it and tell it which files (either all Perl scripts or just a certain directory) to run under mod_perl, then restart Apache. That's how I did it anyway...

Re: [PerlKid] installing [In reply to] Can't Post

At my current local testserver, I use the IIS/5.1 (defaultly available in WinXP)
Is there any way to install mod_perl at IIS (or is it too apache related)?

Re: [Pro_4] installing [In reply to] Can't Post

For windows use ppm, for unix --> I would manually compile mod_perl to enable all the mod_perl hooks

installation website:

http://perl.apache.org/embperl/INSTALL.pod.1.html

Apache's DSO(Dynamic Shared Object) features allows you to add modules on-the-fly at startup using httpd.conf directives....

install mod_perl as a shared object library.

example:::

gzip -dc mod_perl-1.26.tar.gz | tar -xvf -
cd mod_perl-1.26

perl Makefile.PL USE_APXS=1 WITH_APXS=/usr/local/etc/apache/bin/apxs EVERYTHING=1
make
make install

that's it....

EVERYTHING=1 will enable all the mod_perl hooks. This includes all the advanced features of mod_perl such as authentication and authorization control, configuration of the server with Perl, output filtering, and more...

I recommend getting the mod_perl cookbook.

Dear Cure,
I can't run "make" after "perl makefile.pl ...".
It notices that: "'make' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or patch file"

Help me :)
Thanks
Duc
