endless loops ****ing my web host off!!! any way to test scripts before i run them? Can't Post

hi. i set scripts into endless loops because of stupid scripting errors. twice. so my web host admin is super upset (rightfully so). as he remarked, "This is completely unacceptable and has very adverse affect on the
performance of all of the other sites that I host on this server.".

is there any way i can test out a script on *my* computer or something so i don't screw things up for other people? i am so new to perl, i am afraid to experiment when i can almost disable my entire server. (and no, i can't afford to hire someone more experienced to write my script)

i am stuck until i can show my server admin that i won't @!$#% up again...

Hi

just d/l apache for windows and d/l editplus.

Editplus is a editor. I want me code in there ans you can campile your program in editplus also--> very handy and if you want to test you cgi on a browser well thats what apache is for , its a web-server, and you need to install activeperl

editplus-> www.editplus.com

apache-> http://www.apache.org/dist/binaries/win32/apache_1_3_12_win32.exe

activeperl-> http://www.activestate.com/ActivePerl/download.htm 1. you need to d/l the windows installer, so clik on the win95/98 link-> win2000 doesnt need the windows installer
now click on the Intel, APi522e.exe link

hey thanks cure!!!!

i'll try that. i downloaded those and now i gotsta figure out how to work it out...

do i need to have a specific directory structure (e.g. perl directory within the apache dir)? i'm a little confused about how it fits together. apache sets up a server on my hd, and activeperl compiles the cgi script, right???

thanks!!!
