tabulation and ^M Can't Post

Hi !

I try to make a data file with numbers separated with a tabulation, but I fail :

______code_____________

for (...) {
print DATA "$a\t$b\t$c\t$d\n" ;
}

__DATA_file__result___wrong !______________

number1 number2^M number3^M number4^M
number1 number2^M number3^M number4^M
number1 number2^M number3^M number4^M
etc...

then I trie to open this file in Scilab by
-->data=read('file_name',-1,4);
!--error 49
incorrect file or format Crazy

off course because the separator between numbers is not the same... Mad
Thank you for comments.
