Absolute beginner absolutely lost, using Mac

...been reading about Perl for a few hours and want to post a simple form...Now, I've got all the paths from my host; i've built the form; have worked up Perl for the form, but what i don't even have a clue on is this: basically what's next?
Does it work with a Mac?
Do I need to get something (program,compiler,whaterver) to make it run?
If so, what is it and where do I get it?
Also, do i need to install a Perl folder
on my harddrive? (read somewhere you didn't have to if its on your server???) Finally, am i understanding correctly that the Perl script can be installed with, in my case, a Simpletext document in the perl bin on my server?
If someone would help me take off these blindfolds...not that i still won't be in the dark...thanks in advance...Ralph
