Modem testing Can't Post

I am very new to perl progamming. Green, Rookie, Wannabe .. you know the terms ... I have been to a beginners class and hold the dummies book.

What I need is a script that will dial a modem check for dial tone, disconnect, then move on the the next one listed in an external text file.

I do not know where to start. Is anyone aware of a module out there that I can use a learning tools and template ?

Tks

Chris

Re: [VIDALCH] Modem testing [In reply to] Can't Post

ViDALCH,

You can probably learn something from Modem::Vgetty.

If you have a serial port connected modem, you can try Device::Modem.

If you are using Win32, you can try looking at Win32::RASE.

Other than that, I have no more help to offer in terms of using modems.
If you have questions about understanding how to use these modules, post
back and I or one of the other fantastic programmers that visit PerlGuru.com
will assist you as best we can.

Good Luck,
Dennis
