Dummy needs help!!! Can't Post

I need to implement a script that allows a person to send an email to a friend about a certain product---the email should contain the link to the person that sent it, info about the product, and a link to the product site. I am also not quite sure how to implement it--do I put it in a cgi bin and link the form to that script in the bin? Any input would be greatly appreciated---thanks for your time.---Shad-o-man!

Shad,

There are a few ways you could do this. If you need to use this script for multiple products, the easiest way would be to use hidden inputs. For example, on your site you have a Toaster for $24.99 and at the bottom of the page the "E-mail A Friend About This Product" form. Within the form, make a hidden input box containing the product information such as price, name, address.

CODE:

<form action="/cgi-bin/productmailer.cgi" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="title" value="Toaster">
<input type="hidden" name="price" value="$24.99">
<input type="hidden" name="address" value="/products/toaster.html">
Friend's Name: <input type="text" name="friend_name"><br>
Friend's E-mail: <input type="text" name="friend_email"><br>
Your Name: <input type="text" name="your_name"><br>
Your E-mail: <input type="text" name="your_email"><br><br>
<input type="submit" value="Send!">
</form>

Then, in your CGI/Perl script, just type a basic e-mail and insert the information given through the form. Let me know if you need any help!

And what if some wise-@$$ like me came along and changed that price item to ...

<input type="hidden" name="price" value="$0.00">

Would I get it for free? Smile
