DOWNLOADING REMOTE IMAGES	Can't Post

I hope you guys can help me with this; I've been researching for the last month with no success.

What I'm trying to do is to copy/download/transfer a list of images from a remote server to my server.

I was thinking of the following:
When I display these pictures on my website, they’re pulled from the remote server, but I would like to check whether they exist on my server first (the ideal situation) and then display them, if not download the picture from the remote server and store it on my server, and then display it. Do you get the picture?? How do I do it??

I have tried to do it manually by downloading the images to my computer and then uploading them to my server, there are approximately 5,000 images this will take me forever, I definitely need a script for this!!

I wish somebody would direct me towards the right direction; your suggestions would be strongly appreciated.

`use HTML::LinkExtor ;' to get the links
use LWP::Simple qw(get mirror);
use `get' to fetch the page with the links,
and then use mirror to download the files
Mirror will check if you already got it where you're saving, as well as if the file changed/expired or not.
