The Rule is this, If they patient their board for some kind of great & new technology then you can't even do something similar to what they did. But since this technology is old and open source "GNU License Agreement" then if you take what they made, and modify over 20% of there whole code, or say, you make your own using the same techniques as them, there's no way you would copy there code more than 80% just by trying to mimic what there code accomplishes. So then you'd be in the clear. Remember, even with books, more than 20% different to tell the same story, doesn't qualify as plagiarism. SO have at it!. Sleuth
