htaccess problem Can't Post

Hello Everybody,

It's Ben again, with another problem, no doubt Dave will probably answer this one.

I'm trying to allow popup banners to be placed on all html files within a directory.

Is it possible to allow banners to popup when a webpage is accessed via a web browser using htaccess?

I tried:

ErrorDoc 404 htmlcodehere

and it worked fine, but when you replace 404 (webpage not found) with 200 (webpage ok) it wouldn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Ben Chivers

Probably the easiest option is to use an external javascript file, with the popup code in there. Of course, that would mean modifying each html file to include the javascript file.

How do websites like www.geocities.com and www.hypermart.net make banners to display on user's free websites. I would have thought it was something to do with the htaccess file.

Anyone else have any ideas?

b,

They way it was done the last time I checked (probably a year or so ago), Hypermart and Geocities require that you put certain code snippets on your pages. They run scripts to parse pages for their code snippets (supposedly) to make sure you do this. The code snippets that they require are javascript. I've never heard of using .htaccess for any sort of pop-ups.

It can be done with an .htaccess file, you just need to [url=http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/directives.html]find the right command to put in it and then write the companion scripty bits. :)
