Manners Can't Post

When you remove someones moderator status it is generally decent manners to let them know.

It is also good to have a substantial reason first rather than doing it out of spite because I disagreed with something a staff member said.

Having said that I rarely visit PerlGuru now as it is low traffic so I'm not too fussed.

Re: [RedRum] Manners [In reply to] Can't Post

I do apologize for not having let you know first. I started to reply and then got tied up with things at the office and unfortunately forgot about it.

I freely admit acting out of some anger -- I saw several posts removed from the thread in question, yet your brusque comment remained. I think I should have been notified that the posts were being moved, if for no reason other than to say you didn't like being replied to in the same tone that you used to reply to another moderator.

Disagreeing with something a staff member said is a far cry from censoring them and then choosing to not censor yourself. That's a pretty blatant abuse of moderator privileges.

Regardless, both of us are at fault here for lack of manners. I sincerely apologize for mine in not having notified you before you noticed the lack of moderator privileges.

Perhaps you could have asked why I moved the posts before you assumed the reasons.

I was not censoring anyone. I happened to feel that the last 4 or so posts were neither relevant or appropriate in the thread, hence IMO I felt our discussion should have been made in a more appropriate forum.

I certainly don't see that as abusing my moderator status, I think it was the sensible thing to do.

I didn't intentionally leave my post behind, I attempted to detach the whole lot but I must have clicked the wrong post - I apologise for that. Obviously that came across wrongly when you saw my post had remained.

Re: [RedRum] Manners [In reply to] Can't Post

At this point, this whole mess sounds like a huge misunderstanding stemming from a lack of communication.

Perhaps we should have been advised why the posts were being moved. This would have served to thwart the cynical speculation that arose when they were found missing.

We could "perhaps" ourselves till the next century, but doing so won't give this issue closure.

In any case, please let me know if you wish to continue moderating here ... I'll be glad to add you back.
