including external files	Can't Post

Hi all,

I have problem with including external files to the perl file and Iam working on windows NT system. I added perllib and perl5lib paths to environmetal variables and my error is

Can't locate object method "new" via package "Lingua::Stem::Snowball" (perhaps you forgot to load "Lingua::Stem::Snowball"?) at qadoc.pl line 17.

And in my code I added following lines also

use lib "C:/WINNT/Profiles/satyana/Desktop/site_perl/";

use lib ::Lingua::Stem::Snowball;

my $dict=Lingua::Stem::Snowball->new(lang=>'german'); #line 17

last line where error occurs Unsure

,please help out of this problem

use lib ::Lingua::Stem::Snowball;

I don't know the module you're using but that seems to be a very strange way to try to use it. Is that what it said to do in the documentation?

I'd expect that it would be more likely to be

sorry for posting in two groups

I still have problem even I use

use lib "C:/WINNT/Profiles/satyana/Desktop/site_perl/";

use Lingua::Stem::Snowball;

and error is :-

C:\WINNT\Profiles\satyana\Desktop>perl qadoc.pl
Can't locate loadable object for module Lingua::Stem::Snowball
tains: C:/WINNT/Profiles/satyana/Desktop/site_perl/ C:/WINNT/P
sktop/site_perl D:/Programme/perl/lib D:/Programme/perl/site/l
line 15
Compilation failed in require at qadoc.pl line 15.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at qadoc.pl line 15.

And one more thing is iam using active perl , is there anything to deal with registery

Sounds like Lingua::Stem::Snowball hasn't been installed properly. It looks like it has a compiled library component.

How did you install it?

yes it is not installed module , it is copied from unix

I installed it on unix 2 years back,

can u give me link where I can find the complete module of stemmer from Snowball

You can't generally install Perl modules like that. You need to install them properly.

Well, like I said, I've never heard of the module. You could try looking on search.cpan.org or, failing that, Google. Where did you get it from in the first place?

Hello sir,

I found the snowball module in the internet,

but the problem is I don't know, how to install it in windows

because they instruct me to use make command not working in dos.

here is the installation process given to me

Compile and install module
% perl Makefile.PL
% make
% make test
% make install

please help me out of this problem

I believe that Microsoft have a make clone called "nmake" which you can download from their web site somewhere.

But we've already established that this module has a compiled component (I expect that you'll find .xs files included in the distribution). This means that you'll almost certainly need a C compiler too.

It would be easier to try and track down a pre-compiled version. Have you tried emailing the author?
