Microsoft removing IE features! Can't Post

Hi,
Have you guys noticed this?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q834489

They are removing the basic authentication system in IE that allows the inclusion of login details in the url to bypass the pop-up login box. e.g. http://username:password@perlguru.com/members/

Anyone else think this is completely outrageous!?

This means that html login pages for .htaccess protected member's areas are no longer possible!

Why not just let your users login via the prompt that pops up rather than entering the login details via a html page =)

Its more secure that way too. Otherwise usernames and passwords are written to access and errors logs which is very insecure.
