What does MakeMaker do?
MakeMaker (or, to give it its full name, ExtUtils::MakeMaker) is a module that helps module authors to create and package a distribution for their module which follows the CPAN standards. It is also used as part of the process that users follow when installing the module. These days it is gradually being replaced by Module::Build.
And is it possible to create a stand-alone executable perl program?
