Error msg thru Netscape Can't Post

I am trying to troubleshoot an application and I don't have experience w/ Perl. I have an application running on a website where users may upload documents via the web and delete documents via the web. The application hasn't been touched in months and was running fine. We are now receiving the following error message upon "adding" and "deleting" a document: Unknown File Type You have started to download a file of type application/x-perl Click "More Info" to learn how to extend Navigator's capabilities.

I believe it is a server issue and the admin assures me that nothing has been done to the server. Can anyone help?

Re: Error msg thru Netscape [In reply to] Can't Post

Could you give some more info on what is happening?
Is the download portion of the script the only thing not working?
Did any other scripts quit working?
If you have telnet have you tried running the script from the command line?
It does sound like a server problem but it could be something else.

The error occurs upon accessing the page. I believe the mime-types of the server have somehow been changed or the cgi-bin has been turned off or the mapping was changed.

The file has been run from the command line and works fine. Thanks for your response.

Re: Error msg thru Netscape [In reply to] Can't Post

Could you please give us the url to the program that's giving you this error? Also, have your tried doing it using IE?

The "Unknown File Type You have started to download a file of type application/x-perl" error would lead me to believe that your program is missing a "Content-type: text/html\n\n"; , line, which tells the server to display output rather than to download the file. If this isn't it, could you also answer Scott's other questions? Those answers would give us a better understanding of the problem.
