Download Listing Needed Can't Post

Hello,
I have been searching the web for a cgi program that will allow me to display a list of the items in a directory for download but also display other information that is read from a text file with the same name. So, for example, if I have a file called download5.zip, and in the same directory I had a file called download5.txt which inside it would have the description, date, type and other things that would also print to the html rather than just the name with a link. I would like to have user defined items too so I can add fields of information to the text file and have them print out in html also...

That is my suggestion..
Thanks

Re: Download Listing Needed [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello,

I have never come accross anything of that sort, but I will let you know if I do. For right now, I would say to look in the download section located here: http://www.perlarchive.com/guide/File_Downloading/. If I find anything I'll let you know.

casManG,

Actually, it sounds like a "Link Manager" program may work for you. Some of these link indexing programs, (such as Links by Gossamer-Threads) allow you to add your own fields for display.

You can create a field for each item that you would have included in your text file, also making your database content easier to administer. Instead of including a url to a site, you can insert the url to your download file.

Other link managers are listed at http://www.perlarchive.com/guide/Link_Managers/

Hope this helps!
