Split strings Can't Post

Hello, I just started using Perl a couple of days ago, and I'm trying to develop a script that extract some information from a output file of a bioinformatic software named Phred... What I want is to extract the information that are in bold from the lines below:

25 0.00 0.00 0.00 96Pb02DILH12.g 33 57 (1027) C pCMVSPORT (3569) 827 803
25 12.50 0.00 0.00 96Pb02DILH12.g 507 546 (538) C pSPORT1 (3873) 237 198
75 16.18 0.00 2.94 96Pb02DILH12.g 555 758 (326) C pSPORT1 (3873) 237 40
32 19.17 1.39 5.56 96Pb02DILH12.g 639 998 (86) C pGEM-T-Easy_Cloning_Vector (26) 2989 2645

The only way of doing this is using "split"??

tia...

Re: [alcrowley] Split strings [In reply to] Can't Post

Its not the only way but it is a good way if the data does not need to be validated in anyway beforehand and if each lines is formatted the same. There are also many DNA/Bio modules on CPAN as well as www.bioperl.com
