In over my head? Can't Post

Am I in over my head? I'm learning cgi based on online tutorials and from what I can understand of the scripts I use from free script archives. Unfortunately, the script I do want I can't find, so I'm trying to make it myself. It would have the user fill in their information, then return a template/code fragment with their info replacing the specified variables. I believe I can create the form part (standard guestbook tutorials for parsing the input?), but the problem gets too complex after that. I have more than one code fragment for the user to choose. I'm trying to figure out how to create the script so under each example is a submit button that will produce the desired output into a text box so the user can just cut and paste.

I reach far for a newbie, I know. If you can just point me in the direction of an online tutorial that would help me (So far all I've seen are how to write guestbooks) I'd really appreciate it, thank you.
