you will need to be more specific, if you are just looking for a module usage guide then cpan is your friend, or just use perldoc, otherwise show us at least what you have already.

Use Net::Server for the server end. For the client use IO::Socket::Inet.

depending on which flavor of Net::Server you use, it will do all the polling and handle selection for you.

I noticed you have been answering a number of old threads since you joined the forum, nothing wrong with that but just wanted to bounce that off you in case you had not noticed the dates of the threads.

I noticed,

Way I figure it, the search engines will sort it out in the end. I can tell you, a _lot_ of these questions I have asked myself once or twice, and banged my head against various painful objects in the mean time.

So I consider adding to the Gargoyles input stream once in a while to be an act of charity. Maybe one or two poor bastards find the right answer before the entire Internet is so cluttered with porn, as-seen-on-tv adverts, and stupid human tricks that the prospect of finding anything useful is completely annihilated.

hehehe.... I think you're a bit late, the enemy is no longer at the gates, they are an occupying army. But there are pockets of resistance where actual useful knowledge is still traded in dark alleys and dimly lit corners. Welcome to the resistance!
