<> operator Can't Post

I started perl a little while back and bought theLlama book. I was chugging along perfectly fine until I stumbled upon the <> operator. Can someone explain to me how I use it and give some examples. All help is appreciated.
Thankyou

Re: [Rysin] <> operator [In reply to] Can't Post

It is explained in some detail here:

http://perldoc.perl.org/perlop.html#I%2fO-Operators

at the very basic it is the operator used to get some form of input into a perl script.
