Call "make" in perl. Can't Post

first question is : how do I use a perl script to call a make? system? exec backticks? ( which works best for my second question)

second question is: when i run make, it's gonna generate a compile log line by line, i want to know the time difference between certain lines in the compile log (when are they generated). so i know how long it takes to run make in the sub-directory

thx :)

Re: [lijia6] Call make in perl and sent time at compile log generated by make file [In reply to] Can't Post

here is a simpler example :

------------------------------------------------

$count = 6;
open (RESULT, ">result");
while ($i<$count){
print RESULT "$i";
$i++;
sleep 1;
}

-----------------------------------------------

so i will write another perl script to run this one. and how do i reflect the 1 sec difference between each line the output file, which is the "result"
