About a code snippet Can't Post

Hello,

while (<input>) {

m/^\n/ and next;

...

}

1) What does "m/^\n/" mean?

2) What is "and next;" for? What does it mean?

Thanks.

m/^\n/ is checking for a line that starts with a newline and if it does it goes to the next line in the file. Its probably skipping blank lines but not necessarily.
