Counting Can't Post

Hello, I have a list that is far too large to database count efficiently, far to large to be pulled into RAM (even though I have 96 GB of memory, ie RAM) The goal is to count the words in sequence. Any ideas? The list looks like this:

JFLINDF
FDKLDF
DKLDJF
JLKFDE
...

What do you mean by "The goal is to count the words in sequence." What sequence?

I love Perl; it's the only language where you can bless your thingy.

Perl documentation is available at perldoc.perl.org. The list of standard modules and pragmatics is available in perlmodlib.

Get Markup Help. Please note the markup tag of "code".

I meant to clarify that. The words are split into groups and I need to keep a tally of new words to the dataset with the addition of each new group. In other words I should have an output like this:

1 25
2 98
...
7,000,000 45,000,000
...
