Set path to dir containing all cgi-script subdir?

From what I have read, I need to set the path to the directory containing all cgi-script subdirectories in order to read a cookie that was set from a script residing in one directory and read from a script residing in another. I guess I use the
-path=>'/directory/' statement but just how do I enter this? THanks in advance. DOUG
