activeperl woes Can't Post

Sorry--brand new to Perl, been programming for 3+ years (in C#, java, vb.net, vba)....
I think this may have to do with the binary I used to install (ActivePerl 5.8.9.826) but I'm having trouble executing this code, directly out of the llama:

Code
@lines = `perldoc -u -f atan2` 
foreach(@lines){
s/\w<([^>]+)>/\U$1/g;
print;
}


with my command window pointing out errors at ' ) {'
and '}'. I have no idea why--I was hoping someone would know if this is simply an activeperl issue, and if so (or not), how to fix it.

I just noticed I dropped the semicolon on line 2....works now.
