Need advice about Perl power

Can't Post

Greetings All ! I've been using Perl for a while and will soon be operating a Perl-based auction script/site. However, I'm thinking about the future. Just in case my site should become popular, I'm wondering how many hits a Perl .cgi script can take per day before overloading the server it's on ? (Each individual auction on the site is saved as a textfile, as are user records.) I'm thinking, based on what little I've overheard/read from various sources, that I may have to rewrite the entire code in something else (Javascript ?)... and may have to interface it with some sort of SQL database (MySQL ?). That is, IF I want it to remain fast and be able to handle a lot of traffic. If you have any thoughts/advice, please Email me at "draasch@cerner.com" or "draasch@frontierblazers.com", as I will probably post my problem in multiple forums on multiple sites... hoping to get some information quickly. Thank you !!!! -= David Raasch =- draasch@cerner.com dave@frontierblazers.com
