Getting info from asp scripts Can't Post

I was looking at a script on gossamer-threads that got results from altavista and put it on my page. I was wondering if you could do this with a site that used .asp, where the variables don't show.

Here's an example of what I mean:
Altavista is set up so that when the query is submitted the search results url shows:
http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/query?q=query&kl=XX&pg=q&Translate=on

However on an .asp search site when the query is submitted the search results url shows: http://www.aspsite/search.asp

No variables come up after the search.asp.

Is there a way to run a search on an asp site and get the information from that search via perl or cgi?

Take a look at the form on the page that points to the asp page and stick all of the hidden values in the url, and as usuall the search box name with the query also. It will work if you do that.

Do You know what I mean by sticking hidden values in the url?

if not here's what to do.

open html source on the page that you do your search on. If your viewing it in notepad press f3 and search for "<form" to find the form quickly. Check for any tags like <input type="hidden" name="type" value="search">

That's a hidden value. Won't show in urls. Asp or not. but then to put that in the url you would do this.
www.site.com/search.asp?type=search

You would do that for all of them if you find any.

As for the search read the name of the search box and if it's "query" then you would end up with
www.site.com/search.asp?type=search&query=perl

That worked for me.
