Find if an external program is installed Can't Post

Hi

Is there an easy method to check if a specific program is installed on the user's windows machine? In linux, the perl script can use the "whereis" command, but is there an equivalent command for windows? My knowledge is limited because I only use linux. Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of such a program for windows. It would be handy. It may not be possible because the concept of "installed" is much more complex for windows than xnix.
Good Luck,
Bill
