one script display and process Can't Post

Been using one cgi form submitting data to one perl script. Now I must display current, correct date format for the users in the form. (so perl::dbi module can query oracle for a fixed date time group).

Now, I must use perl to set the date variable, display the form, email form, and insert into oracle. How do I use the submit action to send the results to the same program, as oppose to sending results to another script?

How it looks now:
CGI form:
<FORM ACTION="cgi-bin/mail_form.pl" METHOD="POST">

Perl script:
...
$date = `dtg`; #dtg give correct date format
$mail_body .= "$date\n";
foreach $field ($query->param) {
foreach $value($query->param($field)) {
$mail_body .= "$field: \t$value\n";
...

So, I'm thinking, use perl to set the date, print the date in form for user and remaining form fields, and submit back to itself????

thanks,
$date = `dtg`;
print "EOF";
<FORM ACTION="cgi-bin/mail_form.pl" METHOD="POST"> WHAT GOES HERE!
