Wrote a comprehensive Perl script, now I want to turn it into a Windows installable application. Can't Post

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, but I figure I'd post in the advanced section because of my experience with the language.

I have recently written a very comprehensive script, however I would like to take the idea of that script and turn it into a Windows application for fun and profit.

First of all - what are the good options for a GUI in perl? I'm looking for something that is reasonably skinable and can offer some basic things such as text boxes, images, event functions on mouse overs, etc

Second - once the gui is designed and functional, would it be possible to distribute the entire package (GUI, possibly a ActivePerl distribution, etc) as one installable package?

Or is my best bet to try and do this all with another language?

Thank you in advance

There are several Perl GUI toolkits/frameworks.

See: perldoc -q gui

I've written a few Perl/Tk gui scripts a few years ago, but none since then.

It is possible to write a Perl gui install script that installs your perl app and package that script as a standalone executable.

Since you haven't given any details on your "comprehensive script" or your level of Perl knowledge, so I can't say for sure, but based on the limited info that you've given, I might recommend using a different language for your entire project. Such as Real Studio, which a cross platform language. http://www.realsoftware.com/realstudio/

thanks for the heads up, I'll check out those toolkits.

My script logs into a site, maintains the session (using WWW::Mechanize and HTTP::Cookies), performs several searches and parses through all the pages of the results, (mostly through regular expression pattern matching)

So if I do end up doing this in a different language, it would need to have something like WWW::Mechanize readily available.
